On 14 January 2007, the UMP party members massively gave their
support to Nicolas Sarkozy by electing him the party’s official
candidate in the presidential election on April 22.
From now on, our candidate will be able to lay the foundations
of a new future, and propose alternatives peacefully breaking away
from today’s stalemate (“rupture tranquille”).
Thanks to Nicolas Sarkozy, we will be able to carry out the radical
reforms that our country needs, without any of the old taboos. We
